There’s a reason I’m such a fan of both Dodie and Pomplamoose, and their collaboration on Dodie’s breakup anthem, “Monster,” perfectly showcases why. In this rendition, Pomplamoose not only guest stars but also lends their signature touch to the arrangement, transforming Dodie’s quirky, offbeat original into a more polished pop-rock sound while still preserving her distinctive style.
Nataly Dawn’s unique voice as co-lead harmonises effortlessly with Dodie’s, and you can tell that Jack Conte (on keyboard) had a blast crafting the arrangement. A special shout-out to the unsung hero of this production, producer and mixer Caleb Parker, whose mixing ensures that Dodie’s gentle tones remain front and center, never overshadowed by the other instruments and voices.
The synergy between all the artists involved creates a vibe that’s simply infectious. Yes, it may be an older track, and I’ve probably mentioned it before, but it’s one worth revisiting. If you haven’t yet, definitely check out Dodie and Pomplamoose. Both bring so much joy and creativity to their work. Support independent artists!
