If I take anything from NaNoWriMo – more on that in a moment – it should be that I should write what I know, at least at this point and especially if writing under such pressure like NaNoWriMo provides. I don’t know enough about what is a large part of the setting of my NaNoWriMo novel and research on the particular subject (see how I’m being very cagey about what it actually is?) is quite difficult to come by. Google has not been my friend.
As for NaNoWriMo itself… writing has pretty much stopped, as I realised around the half way point that I was writing something completely different to what I actually wanted to write, and to fix it would require re-writing a large part of what I had already written, and that realisation blew my motivation right out of the water.
I may have to just resume as if I had already done all that, and come back to it later.
