What A Cowboy: the Wild West awaits!

If you’re a fan of miniatures games and the Wild West, then you will definitely want to check out the “What A Cowboy” skirmish rules set from Too Fat Lardies. Developed by the experienced hands who brought us the classic “Chain of Command” (of which I am a very big fan) and based on the innovative “What A Tanker” system, this exciting new game system offers players a chance to step into the boots of legendary cowboys and cowgirls, and engage in gunfights and adventures in the untamed frontier.

What is “What A Cowboy”?

At its core, “What A Cowboy” is a miniatures skirmish game that can be played with four to ten figures per side. The game rules are designed to be easy to learn but offer depth and complexity, allowing players to tactically move, shoot, and fight with their characters on the table. In addition to the command dice system, which makes players think harder about what they will do with each gunfighter, what sets “What A Cowboy” apart is its character generation system.

Each player creates their own unique characters, complete with skills and traits that make them stand out from the crowd. As players engage in more games, their characters can develop these skills even further, becoming legendary figures in the Wild West. This system not only adds an extra layer of depth to the game but also allows players to connect more deeply with their characters, creating a sense of investment in their fates.

Narrative campaigns

Narrative gameplay is a hallmark of TFL’s sytems, and WAC is no different. The game includes a complete campaign system, allowing players to link multiple games together to create a compelling narrative. The campaign system includes a variety of scenarios and missions, each with its own unique challenges and rewards. As players progress through the campaign, they can experience the thrill of becoming famous in the Wild West, gaining riches and glory as they go.

With the right figures and terrain, “What A Cowboy” is also a visually stunning game.

Overall, “What A Cowboy” offers a comprehensive and exciting game system that is sure to delight fans of the Wild West. With its easy-to-learn rules, engaging character creation system, and campaign system, this game promises hours of fun and adventure for gamers of all skill levels. I look forward to teaching it to my eight year old son and re-fighting some classic Hollywood shootouts. Did I mention I love the movie Tombstone?
